Group paella cooking class

Duration: 3 hours
Available in Spanish, English
Overview
In the heart of Granada, we invite you to a culinary adventure that will awaken all your senses. We'll begin with a 1-hour guided tour of the iconic San Agustín Market, where we'll explore its traditional stalls, meet local vendors, learn how to select the best fresh seasonal products, and purchase together the ingredients we'll later use in our workshop.
Afterwards, we'll head to a historic building with centuries of history, where you can forget being a mere diner: here you'll become a chef for a day, learning to master authentic Valencian paella with all its techniques and secrets, from the base sofrito to that crispy socarrat everyone craves. You'll accompany this star dish with homemade sangria prepared with the fruits we've selected, a selection of traditional Andalusian tapas, and a typical dessert that will put the perfect finishing touch on your gastronomic experience.
What makes this activity special is its welcoming and participatory spirit. With your hands in the dough, apron on, and surrounded by the fresh ingredients we've chosen together at the market, you'll discover that cooking is much more than following recipes: it's sharing stories, laughter, and traditions in a relaxed, family-like atmosphere. You don't need previous experience, just curiosity and a desire to enjoy. At the end, we'll sit together to savor the fruits of our labor, taking away not only a memorable meal but also the skills and confidence to recreate these authentic Andalusian flavors in your own kitchen, wherever you are.

Experience a unique gastronomic adventure in the heart of Granada that goes far beyond a simple meal. Our proposal is designed for those travelers who seek to truly immerse themselves in Andalusian culture, not just as spectators, but as active protagonists of their own culinary journey. We'll begin our tour with a one-hour guided visit to the iconic San Agustín Market, one of Granada's best-kept treasures, where local life pulses with energy every morning.
At the market, you'll immerse yourself in a universe of authentic colors, aromas, and flavors. We'll walk together through its century-old aisles, meet the vendors who have been behind their stalls for generations, learn to distinguish seasonal products, and select the perfect ingredients for our class. You'll touch, smell, and taste: from ripe tomatoes from the Granada plains to the spices that bring our dishes to life, including the fresh fish and seafood that arrive daily. This market immersion will not only teach you to shop like a local but will also connect you with Granada's gastronomic soul. Together we'll choose and purchase the ingredients that we'll later transform in our kitchen, creating a complete experience from origin to plate.
After our market visit, we'll head to a carefully restored historic building, where every stone tells a story. Here we invite you to discover the secrets of Spanish cuisine in an atmosphere that combines the authenticity of the past with the comfort of the present. Our space has been designed to create an intimate and welcoming environment, where small groups of travelers from around the world gather around the kitchen to share not only recipes but also stories, laughter, and unforgettable moments.
From the moment you walk through the door, you'll feel at home. We'll place on the table all the fresh ingredients we've selected together at the market, and you'll begin to understand the direct connection between the quality of raw materials and the final result of each dish. This is the true essence of Mediterranean cuisine: simple but exceptional ingredients, treated with respect and technique.
The star dish of our class is, without a doubt, authentic Valencian paella. You'll learn step by step the complete process: from selecting the perfect rice (which we'll have carefully chosen at the market) and the base sofrito, to the exact cooking point that achieves that coveted crispy socarrat. Our local chefs will share with you the tricks that have been passed down through generations, those little secrets that make the difference between a good paella and an exceptional one. While the paella cooks slowly, we'll take the opportunity to prepare refreshing homemade sangria, using the seasonal fruits we personally selected at the market and the special touch that makes it irresistible.
But the experience doesn't end there. We'll also teach you to prepare a selection of traditional Andalusian tapas, those small delights that are an art form in themselves. From the perfect gazpacho for hot days to eggplant with honey from the Alpujarra, including classic patatas bravas or Cordoban salmorejo. Each tapa tells a different story of southern Spain's rich culinary tradition. And to finish with a flourish, we'll prepare together a typical dessert that will sweeten your palate and your memory.
The best part is that this isn't a masterclass where you just watch. Here you roll up your sleeves, put on your apron, and become the chef of your own experience. From selecting ingredients at the market to the final plating, you'll actively participate in every step of the process. You'll work with real ingredients, professional utensils, and authentic techniques, all while enjoying a relaxed and fun atmosphere. At the end of the session, we'll all sit together to taste what we've created, in a communal meal that celebrates shared effort and the pleasure of eating well.
This experience is perfect for solo travelers who want to meet new people, as well as couples, families, or groups of friends looking for a different and memorable activity during their stay in Granada. You don't need previous cooking experience, just a desire to learn, enjoy, and take home not only recipes but also the confidence to recreate these Andalusian flavors in your own kitchen, wherever you are in the world. And most importantly: you'll take away the knowledge of how to choose the best ingredients, a skill that will forever transform the way you cook.
